Simple Remedies for Back Pain in Early Pregnancy
Treatment of back pain in early pregnancy is not as easy as treating back pain when you are not carrying a child in you. It is not advised that you take painkillers as they may have negative repercussions to the baby and although there are some pills that claim they can be taken in without bad effects but risk is something you are not willing to take if your beloved little Jenny or little George (admit it, you’ve already named the little one) is growing in you. Back pain for future mommies is usually caused by one of the following reasons. It can be that the muscles are stretched; ligaments and discs may also be weakening due to high excretion of progesterone; change of weight may also cause this, or if you do have UTI or urinary tract infection due common for those pregnant, you may also feel a slight pain on the back.
So how does one address back pain in early pregnancy, specifically during the first four months? Here are some tried and tested tips for expectant moms:
1. Exercise is the best way to address back pain in early pregnancy. You may want to call your local gym if they have work-out classes specifically designed for pregnant women or if they have yoga classes that they offer. If you want a more cost free route, then you may just want to do some light walking in the morning, some pelvic rocking, light crunches or some knee bends. Check with your gynecologist, your family doctor or your health provider who has been with you on your pregnancy if they may have some exercising tips.
2. Another cost saving remedy for back pain in early pregnancy is basically a good sleeping and resting routine. When you are sleeping, make sure you have enough back support. Have at least 8 hours of sleep and if possible, unless you experience some chronic nausea that wakes you up, it has to be continuous.
3. Proper posture is also needed. Thus, those high heels or those stilettos that you love so much, better find their box because you would have to store them away for 9 months or more. Remember your mom’s advice and do not slouch. Stand up straight with an erect back. This may sound petty but back pain in early pregnancy can be resolved by this simple move.
4. In terms of the food you eat, you may want to ask your health provider what will help with your back pain. Foods that are helpful for back pains are garlic, tomato, spinach, cauliflower cabbage, lettuce and ginger.
5. Good ol’ ice pack would also help. It can reduce the inflammation on your back and it also feels very good. If you have an ice bag or if you have these ice gels that you can store on the fridge to make them cold, then you can use them to offer immediate relief.
6. A light massage on that area would also relieve pain. But make sure the masseur will use only light pressure and you have to be sitting up not lying on your back.
