According to the American Chiropractic Association or ACA, the organization that represents chiropractic doctors, even seemingly mundane and effortless moves like moving around your work area or picking up the garbage can make you feel back pain if done incorrectly. Here are some back pain statistics that are quite interesting, information courtesy of ACA.
Back Pain Statistics # 1: 31 million of the American population experience back pain.
Back Pain Statistics # 2: 50% of the working class in North America say that they experience back pain symptoms yearly.
Back Pain Statistics # 3: At least $50 billion is spent by Americans to treat back pain. That is higher than the annual GNP some countries.
Back Pain Statistics # 4: 80% of the people in the whole world will experience back pain problems at one point in their life.
These staggeringly high numbers just goes to show how much of a problem back pain is to the average American. Below are some easy to find tips and tricks can help us with our pack pain.
1. Garlic oil. It may not smell so nice and your dog may keep on licking your back but it gives immediate relief after application. All you need are 10 garlic cloves. Fry these cloves in 3 tablespoons of sesame oil or mustard oil. Once golden brown, set the oil and cloves aside and put this concoction on an easy to open but spill proof container. Apply the concoction on the painful back once a day or as often as you feel necessary, just make sure you wash it off every 3 hours.
2. Make sure your back has perfect support. Your bed should be firm or medium firm so that it will not be too curved when you are lying on your back. Also, choose a chair, especially an office chair that has good lumbar support.
3. Go to a massage parlor or ask your special someone to massage this area for you. Ask them to use their knuckles and apply light to moderate to heavy pressure. But if you are pregnant, stick to light pressure.
4. Epsom Salts are not only great for hemorrhoids, they are also great treatments for back pain. Magnesium sulfate, the active ingredient in Epsom Salts, is known as an anti-inflammatory topical ingredient. All you need to do is fill your tub with warm water. Then add 2 cups of these salts. Stay in the tub for thirty minutes to an hour an you can also do this as often as you like.
5. Add Vitamin C in your diet. Eat lemons, cabbage (yet is has Vitamin c), oranges or tropical fruits like guava or pineapple. If you do not like eating any of these, then drink Vitamin C in tablet form.
6. Exercise is also a way to alleviate pain or even avoid back pain, a very good way to remedy back pain for those who are expectant mothers. All you would to do is to do some light walking in the morning or do some pelvic stretching.
